How To Lucid Dream

Overview: How to Lucid Dream is a 2-minute animation exploring the experience of lucid dreaming through visual metaphor. Made as a companion piece to Liminal Magazine, the two projects share thematic ground: consciousness, the unexplained, things that are hard to see directly.

Problem: Lucid dreaming happens entirely inside your head. The challenge was translating something fundamentally invisible into something watchable, without losing what makes it strange.

Solution: The piece works through visual metaphor: simple line drawings, a black and white palette, nothing that locks the viewer into physical space. A recurring checkerboard motif marks the shift into the dream state and threads through the whole piece. I storyboarded each scene beforehand, with no source material to work from, just the idea itself.
