Liminal Magazine
Editorial Design, Art Direction, Illustration, Branding
Overview: Liminal Magazine is an editorial publication exploring the strange, mysterious, and unexplained. Blending features, interviews, and reader stories, it approaches paranormal and occult themes with curiosity rather than certainty, inviting readers to sit in the unknown.
Challenge: Topics like the paranormal, consciousness, and the unknown are often presented in ways that feel sensationalized or dismissive, leaving little space for thoughtful, visually cohesive storytelling. With few strong editorial precedents to reference, the challenge was determining how to create a magazine that treated these subjects with both curiosity and credibility.
Solution: I designed Liminal Magazine to balance atmosphere with clarity. The layouts use restrained typography and deliberate pacing to ground the content, while experimental visuals and illustrations introduce a sense dreamlike perception. Rather than attempting to prove or disprove these phenomena, the publication is designed to hold tension, creating space for multiple perspectives and allowing the reader to engage with the material on their own terms. The final piece was produced as a fully printed and bound publication.
